2 Days Tsavo East & Tsavo West Safari

Safari Overview

This short but adventurous safari takes you through two of Kenya’s largest and most iconic national parks—Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Known for their vast landscapes, dramatic terrain, and abundant wildlife, these parks offer a rich safari experience within just two days. Tsavo East is famous for its open savannah, red-dusted elephants, and the historical man-eaters of Tsavo, while Tsavo West is known for its volcanic hills, lava flows, and the crystal-clear Mzima Springs. This tour is perfect for travelers with limited time who still want to enjoy an authentic safari in the Kenyan wilderness.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Mombasa – Tsavo East – Tsavo West

Early morning departure from Mombasa (approx. 5:00 AM).

Drive along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway to Tsavo East National Park (entrance via Bachuma Gate).

Morning game drive in Tsavo East. Look out for the “Red Elephants,” lions, giraffes, zebras, and more.

Visit Aruba Dam – a hotspot for wildlife sightings.

Lunch at a safari lodge or camp inside or near Tsavo East.

After lunch, depart for Tsavo West National Park (approx. 2-hour drive).

Short en route game drive as you head to the lodge.

Optional visit to Mzima Springs, where you can see hippos and crocodiles from an underwater viewing chamber.

Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp in Tsavo West.

Accommodation options: Ngulia Safari Lodge, Kilaguni Serena Lodge, Voyager Ziwani Camp, or similar.

Day 2: Tsavo West – Mombasa or Nairobi

Early morning game drive in Tsavo West. Explore the Shetani Lava Flow, Rhino Sanctuary, and wildlife along the savannah and rocky outcrops.

Return to the lodge for breakfast.

Mid-morning departure from Tsavo West.

If returning to Mombasa, stop for lunch en route and arrive by late afternoon.

If continuing to Nairobi, proceed along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway and arrive in the evening.
