Watamu Day Trip

Departure: Early morning (~6:30 AM from Mombasa / ~5:30 AM from Diani)

Return: Evening (~6:00 PM)

1. Morning: Travel to Watamu

From Mombasa (~1.5–2 hrs drive via Malindi Road)

From Diani (~3–3.5 hrs drive, including the Likoni Ferry crossing)

Stop at Marafa Depression (Hell’s Kitchen) (Optional) – A stunning sandstone canyon with colorful rock formations (best visited early).

2. Breakfast & Beach Relaxation (~8:30 AM – 10:00 AM)

Enjoy breakfast at a beachfront café like Lichthaus Café (great coffee & ocean views).

Relax at Watamu Beach (white sands, turquoise waters).

3. Marine Park & Snorkeling (~10:30 AM – 12:30 PM)

Watamu Marine National Park – One of Kenya’s best snorkeling spots.

Glass-bottom boat ride (if you prefer not to snorkel).

Swim among coral reefs & tropical fish (turtles & rays are common).

Optional: Visit Bio-Ken Snake Farm (if interested in reptiles).

4. Lunch at a Scenic Spot (~1:00 PM – 2:30 PM)

Options:

Turtle Bay Beach Club (buffet with ocean views).

Mida Creek Eco Camp (fresh seafood & mangrove views).

5. Afternoon Adventure (~3:00 PM – 5:00 PM)

Option 1: Mida Creek Exploration

Canoe ride through mangroves.

Visit Crab Shack for a unique crab-eating experience.

Option 2: Gede Ruins

Explore the ancient Swahili ruins (historical & mystical).

Option 3: Kite Surfing (if you’re adventurous, try at Watamu Kite Club).

6. Sunset & Return (~5:30 PM)

Watch the sunset at Watamu Beach or Lichthaus Café.

Drive back to Mombasa/Diani.
